When trying to save attributes in a product, the “save attributes” button is disabled.

I can see this when I go to inspect, and see “disabled” within the buttons class.

I suspect this is a recent bug that came around when we updated to WooCommerce version 7.7.0

    Anyone else having this issue?

  • Hi @cameronwhyte1

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that the Save Attributes button is disabled on your site when trying to save an attribute, correct?

Can you please provide further details about this issue?

    • Does this happen when updating a product or creating a product?
    • Does this happen to all product types on your site?
    • Please provide us with a step-by-step procedures you did on your end for us to replicate this on our sites as well

If a screenshot would be helpful, I’d recommend using https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Meanwhile, I replicated the scenario on my personal site running on the default Storefront theme, however, I am unable to reproduce the issue on my end. I can see the Save Attributes button when creating or updating a product as you can see below:

For us to investigate your issue further, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Thanks!

    Hello!

This issue would happen when trying to make a change to any of the attributes, or when adding and removing attributes. This happens for all product types across the site.

Here is a picture to demonstrate: https://snipboard.io/AhqBSX.jpg

This problem only appears when we upgrade to 7.6.0 and above, the problem is happening in the latest version (7.7.0) too.

The only way we could fix this was to rollback to 7.5.1, and the save attribute button would work properly again.

    Hi @cameronwhyte1

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, just to verify, did you add any values in the attributes, If the attribute value is empty the button will be disabled.

    See this short video: https://somup.com/c0hb2Ea6Zu

Let me know if that helps!

Yes the issue is still happening, despite adding attributes.

I’ve recently noticed that there is no issue when creating new products from scratch, but then if you wish to make attribute edits later, the problem will re-appear.

    Hi @cameronwhyte1

    Thanks for your confirmation.

I am unable to reproduce this issue on my personal site when editing an existing product with attributes. The Save Attributes button is only disabled if there are no values for the attributes as you can see below and enables when there are data:

It looks like a third-party plugin or your theme might be causing the conflict here.

For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, edit a product with existing attributes and see if Save Attributes button is already enabled?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hello!

The same thing happens to me, the button to save in attributes, and the two buttons to create variations do not work.

I had to go back to version 7.5.1 to be able to add the attributes and be able to make variable products.

Whether to modify a product or create a new one, when you add an attribute and its variables, the button is still disabled. It never kicks in no matter what you do.

And about the variables, it shows you the button to generate and the one to manually, but neither of them works when clicking on them

On a development site, we ran the process of deactivating plugins one by one, whilst keeping Woocommerce 7.7.0 active.

We found that when the WooCommerce Attribute Swatches by Iconic plugin (version 1.14.2) was deactivated, the save attribute button functionality works again, and when we re-activated it, the problem came back.

@eltucu do you perhaps have this attribute swatch plugin installed too? If so, perhaps we’ve solved the issue and it’s a clash between the latest version of WooCommerce, and the Iconic Attribute plugin.

In my case I had to deactivate wp rocket, and check force deactivation. Then I reactivated it and that’s it

    Hi @cameronwhyte1

Thank you for providing this information. Based on your investigation, it appears that the issue with the save attribute button functionality is related to the WooCommerce Attribute Swatches by Iconic plugin.

In this case, I would recommend reaching out to the plugin developer or their support team to report the issue you’ve encountered. They will be in the best position to assist you further and provide a solution or a plugin update to resolve the problem.

I am going to mark this ticket as resolved, if you have any further questions , please createa new ticket.

    @eltucu
Glad to know you were able to sorted it out, If you have any new question as?per forum best practices shown here, it is advised that you create a new thread so that we can address your issue(s) separately.
