plugin activation gives fatal error when creating list of pages in dashboard

    I have installed version 3.0.3 of the plugin. I have never used it or any of its predecessors before so should not have any legacy code.

    After I activated the plugin, I clicked on the link to give me my list of Pages, so that I could experiment with the shortcodes.

    However I got the following fatal error when it tried to draw the page, the column headings were also unfamiliar:

    Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\page2cat\page2cat_class.php on line 129

    The column “Archive Link” has been added to the list of columns that I would normally expect to see.

    When I deactivate the plugin the page returns to normal.

    It is reproducible, reliably.

    This is on a local installation and webserver where I test changes before putting them onto the production site. I can supply screenshots if required.

    What WordPress version are you using? 3.4.2?
    Can you provide us a screenshot? Our testing machine isn’t reporting this error at all, and in my local tests plugin installs and works as expected, so this is really strange.

    Deactivating the plugin does solve the problem.

    Thank you all for your reports.

    Bug is triggered with the get_the_category_by_ID() call, that’s not common (for us at least). Working on a fix, 3.0.4 coming soon.

    It should be fixed in 3.0.4, will be released on WP repo as soon as we test it.

    A small issue is still present.
    When editing a category WordPress states the following error at the top of the page.

    Warning: Missing argument 2 for SWER_aptools_admin::category_edit_form_fields() in /www/htdocs/XXX/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/page2cat/page2cat_class.php on line 199

    Fixed in dev 3.0.6 alongside with other issues, will be released on the WP repo soon.

    Thank you. Both the fix in the zip file and version 3.0.6 worked.
    Wasn’t expecting a response, let alone a fix on a Sunday!

    We use this plugin too, so we were broken as well.
    That’s why you had responses and fixes on Sunday, you’re lucky ??
