• I just installed v. 1.5 (yeah, I know 2.0 is out) and all went smoothly, got the auto-generated admin password, went to log in and got a 403 forbidden error. Am I to assume this is something that the web host needs to address? Or is this a bug or issue that I can resolve on my end?

    Thanks in advance

  • 1.5 is not safe. If you don’t want 2.0 – install 1.5.2.

The 403 error might be a permissions issue.

I just installed 2.0 and I am getting the same permission error. I tried changing the permissions, for user, group even public but I always get permission denied when i try to run the install script. What am I doing wrong? Are there permissions I need to change with apache or groups I need to change?

    I am lost please help.

Is this install hosted on a shared server or by you?
On a shared server you cannot do anything about the server’s settings.
If it’s self hosted – you’d be better of to seek some help from fora that specialize in server issues.

I’m getting the same error. The install went great. I got my user id and password then when I went to log into to wordpress I get the error 403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request /cgi-bin/wp-admin/.

I’ve checked all my permission and they are correct. My site is hosted by Bluehost.com

    Please help!!!!
