  • More than likely you used an incorrect database name. If on shared hosting the database name usually is prefixed by a username (username_databasename). Also make certain that the user has full privileges on the database.

Been there done that. Umpteen times. Both ways. Just did the config file again ’cause my host wanted it (even tho I supplied the exact same to them a while back.

Let me add, that I find an unwarranted level of arrogance from the monitors here on this forum-question. I have read all the posts back to 7 years ago. No solutions offered. One guy from WP said something like “that’s all we can do from here.” Where I come from that means “go fly a kite.”

I know it can be frustrating, for both helper and helpee, but no kite flying here today. Most of the time database connection issues are due to something simple. I suggest continuing to work with your host as they have the most insight into your setup. If anything changes or you get a different error message post back and I will do what I can.
