• Hi, folks. This is my first time here and I’m hoping someone can help me. I set up my blog website with a friend, who was to do the techie stuff while I did the content. Disenchanted with our traffic volume (although it’s just been a few months), he has left the building.

I want to hang on and build the blog, but I’ve no idea how to change the Amazon affiliate ads he set up. We both had access to Amazon, for which I have the details, but I’m not sure what to do on the site itself.

This is my first WP site and I really am a nontechie. Just now I registered for the boards, only to get a message saying I was already registered and asking why I needed to do so again.

  • You’ll be more likely to get help if you provide more details about your situation — this might be a helpful read:

Depending on where you are with WP itself, this might help too:

Thanks for the quick response, WPyogi. I’m at basic, so the second link is particularly suitable for me at the moment. I’ve searched the site and can’t see anything to do with affiliate ads. But I’ll just keep plugging away (no pun intended). ??

When you say ‘provide more details about your situation’ what do you mean?

What theme are you using, any plug-ins for the ads, link to your site?

No, WordPress codex won’t directly explain affiliate ads — as they are not a part of WordPress itself. There are some plug-ins that deal with those ads, but that’s only relevant if you are using one. You’ll have to look at your site under the plug-in screen to see about that.

That’s the trouble, I don’t know what was used for the ads. That was my friend’s area. It was he put up the header and everything else like that. But I’ll check the plug-in screen as you suggest, and thanks again.

I could contact my friend, but he’s been through a rough time lately so I don’t like to impose on him.

If you post a link to the site, someone may be able to help more as some of that info is visible in the code of the site.

you can simply install affiliate plugin like Easy affiliate:
    www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/easy-affiliate

this plugin changes all the links in your blog to affiliate links.
    amazon,zappos,best but etc…

Thanks for that, PalTip. It sounds like a useful link. But if I already have amazon, but just want to change the ads my friend put on it, I’ll have to find out how he did it first, won’t I? Or maybe not. You can see what a nontechie I am that I don’t know how the plugin would help.

And thanks again WPyogi. I didn’t realise code would be visible to visitors, but the site is https://www.ebooksfreetoday.com. So maybe, as you say, someone will be able to advise after looking at it. I really do appreciate all the help. I’m a writer, so in return may be able to help someone with content at some stage.
