votd plugin help

Hello all! I am using wp 2 and the lightcms theme. I have downloaded and installed v2.5 of votd. Placed the php file inside the pliguns directory and then activated the votd plugin. When i goto the wp site, there is no verse of the day that appears on the site page. I also switched back to the default kubrick theme and still no verse of the day. What else do you have to do to get this plugin working? Thanks for any help.
