• I can’t find the auto save/page revision option. I checked under screen options for posts and pages and it is not there.

We lost some pages and would like to see if there was an auto save of those pages.

  • Did you check for the pages under Trash?

You may have revisions disabled in wp-config.php or via a plugin; check those.

pages not in trash or anywhere else that I can see.

I just checked the wp-config.php file and don’t see anything in there related to auto save or revisions.

Did you delete those pages and delete them permanently? How did you lose the pages?

I didn’t delete any of those pages. worked most of the day on the site and then all of a sudden I noticed that about half a dozen pages are missing.

When I checked under the pages option the pages are gone. I don’t know how they are lost or at least not visible. I had the same problem about a week ago. It seems to be only pages not posts. I figured it was one of the plugins and at that time I restored them manually.

But I didn’t do anything today that I know of that would cause this. Probably still one of the plugins.

That is why I thought I could check the auto save and realized that the function doesn’t appear anywhere.

Try to deactivate the plugins one by one to see which plugin is causing the problem.

I’ll try but the problem is infrequent. Happened once last week and again yesterday. I deleted several plugins yesterday that we were not using. Maybe one of them caused the problem.

btw I still can’t figure out why I can’t find anything related to auto save on the site (we are using that lastest WP release 3.42). Checked everywhere and it does not display for pages or posts. Checked under the screen options at the top of the screen and it is not there. There must be a line of code missing somewhere. I just don’t know where. wp-config.php, functions.php or elsewhere?

Check your wp-config.php file for this line

    define ('WP_POST_REVISIONS', 0);

and delete it. Or change the value to the number of revisions to save. Look in functions.php, too.

my wp-config.php file does not have any lines in it with the word revision or auto save.

    Look in functions.php, too.

Switch to twentyeleven and try a draft post or two and see if “Revisions” shows up in the page/post screen view options.

the functions.php file in our theme directory doesn’t have any references to revision or auto save either.

Switch to twentyeleven and try a draft post or two and see if “Revisions” shows up in the page/post screen view options.

Just did and it doesn’t show up in 20/11 either. Also checked the functions.php in that theme. Nothing there either.

these are the only screen options that appear on 20/11
