Importing a stand alone site to WPMU

    I am trying to import a standalone wordpress site to a WP network. Both the installations of WP are up to date (3.4.2).

    When I import the xml file everything goes smooth except one thing. And that is posts with embeded videos.

    In the new site in network it does create the post but doesn’t embeds the video from youtube or vimeo.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    I hope I will not have to go and embed videos in each posts manually because there are so many videos in my site.

    How are you embedding?

    Are you, properly, just pasting in the URL? And is autoembedding turned on?

    I have just copied the embed code from Youtube and pasted it in the post. It’s an iframe code that youtube gives.

    It’s working fine in stand alone site but when I am trying to import that stand alone site into the network it’s creating the post but doesn’t includes the embed code.

    It creates a blank post.

    I hope this is clear now.

    Yes, what’s clear is you’re doing it wrong ?? It’s okay, it’s easy to do and easy to fix!

    Don’t paste the iframe in, that doesn’t work on Multisite (higher levels of restrictions due to the fact that someone could break all your sites with one bad iFrame injection). Instead, please use embeds correctly ??

    Figured it out.

    In WordPress Multisite the iframe and html embeds can’t be added by admins of individual site for security reasons.

    If you want to enable this option you can use this plugin. Not recommended if you have open registration on your network.

    If you want to embed the youtube video just paste the url in the post in html format and your video will be embedded automatically.

    @mike, you just beat me by couple of minutes. Lol.

    Anyway, I figured it out from your book “WordPress Multisite 110” Thanks for the great resources.
