• I’ve upgraded two of my test sites to 3.5 and on both I am unable to move widgets and menu items around; nor am I unable to click on the screen options or help on the dashboard. On one of my sites, the content is still there but when I go to edit the page, the visual editor is empty.

I know this happened as a result of the upgrade since I have changed nothing else and these problems are happening on the only two sites that I have upgraded. I believe the database was corrupted during the upgrade problem, as I have tried creating a brand-new site with the same theme and plugin; no problems in the admin panel occur with the plugins, my genesis theme or any custom child theme files. It is only when importing the database that the “freezing up” of the admin panel occurs. I have followed the “master list” of everything to check and still nothing has fixed it (I’ve installed the WP ugrade manually, deactivated plugins and themes, etc.)

Any help to resolve these problems would be greatly appreciated, as I now have two themes that cannot be modified in any way. I would like to be able to fix this problem without having to start from scratch!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

If you use the Sociable plugin, try deactivating it. I was having same issue. Once its down you should be able to move and change your widgets.

After you make changes you can reactivate.

Pain in the butt but its better than nothing.

I have the same issue as Khausk. For me its a custom made plugin which causes it. Its a called Jquery script used by my plugin causing it. It uses the same library as WordPress now does.
