Display Recent posts w/ Title, Summary &Thumbnail (IF) post has featured image?

Trying to display recent posts of all post formats in a list with a thumbnail float: left and the Title along with the Summary float: right.

I found this tutorial //

But my attempts to adding a thumbnail have failed.

Please point me in the right direction…
