    Ok I’ve searched this topic as well and cant seem to find the solution that would work for me.

    I am building a website and don’t need any comments functionality on the site whatsoever. I’ve gone into the dashboard settings for Discussion, and turned off Comments functionality. But I still see the big Leave A Reply on my home page:

    test.sharpfluff.com

    See screen shot of my dashboard settings for Comments:

    In my child theme I also have the following line (as recommended in a previous post):

    /* LAYOUT: remove comments */
    .comments-link { display: none; }

    Doesn’t seem to turn it off though.

  • Uncheck “Allow comments” in the Discussion pane on the Edit Page. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check “Discussion”.

    Aha! Thank you esmi!

    No problem ??

    Hi ??

    esmi i am desperately trying to do the same thing, but I can’t seem to find this pane for screen options you are talking about, could you send a screenshot?

    I want to remove the Leave A Reply function especially for pages, I have ‘About Us’ etc. and there I don’t want to have a discussion box at the bottom.

    Thank you very much!

    hey after even more looking into it, i found it out, i didn’t realize that after switching Discussion on in the screen option, it opens up a settings box below where i can disable comments!!

    Thanks !

    I can’t seem to remove “Leave a Reply” from pages already published.
    I have unchecked all the boxes in discussion including “Allow people to post comments on new articles”
    I have comment outed /*<?php comments_template( ”, true ); ?>*/ in single page php. Note that commenting out the same line in Page template leaves an unsightly /* */ at the bottom of the page.
    There is no comment box available now on new pages but still on the pages established before the changes. No biggie as there as I am just starting and I will add a Home2, trash Home, then change Home2 to Home, and also with the other page that still has a comments box. I am wondering though if I am missing something?

    Thank you all, especially esmi and Scane. The addition tip from Scane was also important, as the settings box was below the visible area of my screen.
    (WordPress 3.5.2, Theme Twenty twelve, in the process of creating my first website)

    To turn off “Leave a reply” – go to page in question – click on Screen Options (top right hand side of page) and click on Discussion. Further functionality appears at end of this page under Discussion header. Then unclick Allow Comments. This nearly cracked me up but seemingly does work. No php an changing of Template
