How and Where do I insert HTML code inot my home page?

  • I’m a new WordPress user, hosted by Godaddy, and am wondering how to insert HTML code into my home page. Is there a HTML view/edit option in the page editor.

    If not, where the heck are the files where I need to insert this code?

    Related: I see a lot of posts that suggest to add this or that to your theme or functions or some other kind of file. Where are those files; certainly don’t seem to be on my home computer. And then, how do I edit those? I have seen them in my FTP manager, but can’t edit them there.
