1. My update-links.php file keeps returning the fsockopen error when trying to contact api.pingomatic.com (not to be confused with the ping server at rpc.pingomatic.com).
    2. I even try and send a ping from my command line on my WinXP PC and the server doesn’t respond. I left a comment on the Pingomatic blog but have seen no response yet.
    3. I think it is possible to grab a Blogrolling OPML or RSS file and extract the ‘last updated’ attribute and use that to update my links list.
    4. I wanted to ask and see if anybody else had cooked this up before I try and hack/hash it out.
    5. I know that I can use a PHP code to pop the Blogrolling code in but want a hack/plugin that will use the same functioning as the original update-links.php file. And cache it as well.

  • I’ll second all points above! I also get the same erros and have left a message at pingomatic.wordpress.com and have recieved no reply.

I’ve tried a few of the blogroll plugins that I’ve found, but they all seem to not work very well (at least in WP 2.0 and 2.0.1).

    Cheers,
    Michael.

I put a request for this to be programmed over at RentACoder – if anyone wants the gig email me or bid on it there. This is a feature I’m willing to pay for (releasing it under the GPL and back to the community, of course).

The pingomatic API hasn’t worked since the middle of January. Requests for information have fallen on deaf ears.
