• Hi guys and gals. I hope you can help me with this.

On the 6th of December, I contacted the webmaster to remove my name from the webpage and url. He did so and has modified the webpage to exclude my name and has changed the url.

However the old url still appears on Google when my name is typed. When accessed, it still contains some old information that was removed. Upon signing in to the website however, the webpage automatically “corrects” itself.

Furthermore, Google has also re-cached the old webpage(old url) on the 17th of December which got me confused as shouldn’t the old link/page be dead now? How long till the old url/page stop being accessible?

Will this be resolved if I managed to convince the webmaster to delete the webpage altogether?

    Cheers and Best Regards.

Is this issue related to “super cache”?

It could be, but it’s more likely related to the fact that it can take a while for Google’s search results to be changed. Google has a process by which you can request that they correct the problem – this page explains what you would need to do:

Thanks for the reply, WPyogi. I appreciate it.

I have already tried that. Unfortunately Google is unable to removed it as it “still appears on a live page”.

What I find strange is that the old url which has been changed still works, and it leads to the old page. It has been over 20 days and the old url is still functional. Does that means that the old page is still stored under “super cache” which is why it is still viewable online until now? Or is it a different issue?

Would deleting the webpage altogether render the old url non-functional? ie return a 404 page error.

    Cheers and Thanks.

I don’t think there’s any way for someone to say what the problem is without access to the site and the server the site is on, and even then, things can get cached and saved in many places on the internet once they are out there. Have you gone back to the webmaster with what Google has told you about the live page being still available?

The webmaster will be back on January. I will inform him about this then and see how it goes.

I will keep you inform about the progress.

    I appreciate the help.

    Cheers and Best Regards.
