• I was trying ti chang the permissions so I could upload pics and something went terribly wrong. I now get a blank page for my site. When I try to view the source, it’s also a blank page.

I upgraded to 2.0.1 rather easily and everything was working for a short time.

I’m getting to feel the best way to handle this is to completely erase WP from my hard drive and start all over. I hope there is an easier way…

    Thanx for your help.
    Marco

ok… since I couldn’t figure it out I simply reloaded WP 2.0 and then went through the upgrade again.

Upon completing it I noticed a line that said if I were using the WP Backup Plugin I might need to change the permissions in the WP-content folder to 666 or even 777. It’s already at 755 so I’m not sure if chaning it would make a difference.

For now I have not activated the backup plugin.

    Thanx

If you aren’t planning to use the backup plugin, don’t change the permissions. It’s a really bad idea….

    For your blank page problem:

Sounds like the “failed to return blog to default theme before processing upgrade” problem.

Try accessing /wp-admin/ directly through your browser, then go to Presentations, select a theme, make sure you see it change to Active Theme, then click View Site.

I have the same problem. I cannot get to the /wp-admin/ as it is blank also. The strange thing is that it is only blank a few days a week, Anny suggestions? I am hosted at Lycos, using wordpress 2.0.1

Um…. no…. that sounds more like a server problem. Next time it’s blank, email your host and ask them if they’ve had a problem….

even if other files work like:

    https://ifolio.idfact.net/info.php

it can be a server problem? ( I do not know much about PHP)

Well, that file is just a readout of your host server’s php setup etc. so it should work pretty much all the time unless the server’s really down.

If your admin section is available sometimes, but also sometimes not available or blank, it really can’t be in the program I *think*…. so you probably should ask your host if there’s some problem that would sometimes cause that part of your install to be unavailable.
