• I recently had a nasty mishap with my blog. I had to delete all the plugins to make it work again. Now I receive this message when I try to upload them:
    Could not create directory. /home/ragingal/public_html/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/

I also cannot get Filezilla to open the plugins folder so I can upload unzipped copies.
Any idea what I am doing that is wrong. Also, if I just copy a new WP installation over the old would that fix my problem, but not lose my content.
I want very much to keep my current look and feel and to not lose any content. I made the theme so that is easy to retain or restore, but the content will be impossible

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, I paid someone to fix the site so that the categories would go the content listed in the left hand navigation. Before that selecting a category would only leave you on the homepage. I think it was a cache problem but I didn’t know how to fix even that. So, if you need to know what I have done I can’t tell you. I didn’t do it myself.

Anyway, content is king so what should I do to not lose it, but still fix my blog.

    Thanks

  • It sounds like your folder permissions may be off. You can find more information about WordPress file permissions here: Changing_File_Permissions

I tried that but nothing changed. What happens if I back up the Database using phpmyadmin and then just wipe out the blog entirely. Would that keep my content and then I would only lose my plugins settings. I can update all of those settings in about an hour or two, so that is pretty easy if I can just keep the content
