• I’m using Owen Winkler’s fine ‘Countdown 1.1’ plug-in on an install of WP 2.0 and all is peachy but for one slight aggravation.

Although my GMT offset is properly set to GMT-5, the countdown doesn’t update until about 0800. I say “about” because I’ve never caught it exactly with a reload. I had this same problem with WP 1.5, the original plug-in install.

A good friend is learning PHP outside the WP environment and commented: “It appears there is a function call to something called get_settings(‘gmt_offset’) that is used in an odd way.”

Ideas, anyone? I hate to bother the good and generous Owen with this but will if that’s the best route to take.

I have discovered the update occurs at exactly 0800 EST although the WP time is set to GMT-5. That’s effectively, GMT-12, I think.
