• Hello, I am sorry to bother about this. I just noticed recently that in order to update my WP blogs we are now required to manually put in our ftp credentials. I’ve never had to do this before. But the problem is that I’ve tried every possible combination of
    Hostname:
    FTP username:
    FTP Password:
I can think of and I haven’t been able to update my blog to wordpress 3.5.
Since this new protocol appeared I haven’t been able to update blog posts, add media to posts or update pluggins.
    can anyone please advise?
I am not very technical and I have always enjoyed the simplicity of WP
My understanding of what FTP credentials are is:
The Domain name, the domain username and the domain Password.
If I am incorrect in that assumption please let me know.

Then something on your server must have changed. It’s not specifically WordPress that requires this but certain types of server configuration mean that WP has to request FTP access for every core, theme & plugin update.

FTP credentials do vary from host to host, so you really need to contact your hosts and confirm your ftp login details with them.
