My Blog Is DOWN and I have no clue what to do

    Hey,

    I updated the Plugin this morning and boom – down went the whole website.

    I got this :

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/s/m/a/smartstephen/html/maximizemylife/wp-content/plugins/thank-me-later/Message.php on line 505

    I don’t know anything about FTP, STFP, PHP or whatever. Seriously, I need a simple answer for how I am to address this issue if I cannot even log in to my blog.

    Can’t you disable the plugin remotely or something?

    Andrew,

    You will need to delete or rename the thank-me-later directory from the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. You can do this using FTP or using your host’s file manager. If you tell me who you are hosting with, I will try to find some specific instructions for doing this.

    The issue is caused because the plugin requires PHP 5.3 or greater. It may be possible to ask your host to upgrade your version of PHP, and this should immediately resolve the issue. Otherwise, I recommend you continue using Thank Me Later 2.1 until I am able to issue a patch to support PHP 5.2.4 or greater. This should be available by tomorrow morning.

    Unfortunately, there is not a way to remotely deactivate the plugin. Sorry about this.

    Or if you have Skype I can guide you to FTP this yourself (via Skypes “share screen”).

    Hi, I am having the same exact issue with my blog. I am using a Go Daddy hosting account, but when I tried to log into their remote file manager, I was sent to the same error page when prompted to log in to my WordPress – didn’t work. Any help please?

    The same problem raised with my site. I renamed the folder and plugin was deactivated. It seems fine now.

    Now if i want to go back to version 2.1, Should i only needed to replace thank-me-later folder from my backup or upgrade has made some changes in Database too and I would be required to restore my database as well.

    Need help for this. Thanks

    The error happens before any upgrade takes place. You should just restore the thank-me-later directory; no need to replace the databases. If you need a copy of 2.1, you can download it from this page.

    I have now released a small update 3.0.1 which should resolve this issue. Please upgrade to 3.0.1 and let me know if there are any further issues.

    You can upgrade from WordPress: “Dashboard” > “Updates” > “Check Again”.
