Slideshow not working

Hello, I’m a total newbie to wordpress. I’m attempting to create a slideshow on one of my pages, and watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99soYUtwmfQ

Everything worked fine until clicking on an image on the live page – it opened the image, but did not contain the slideshow buttons or functionality. I had to hit the back button to return to the page.

I’m using wordpress 3.5 with the twenty twelve theme.

I previously installed NextGEN, but have since deactivated & deleted it. I read some posts about jquery being installed improperly, but have no idea if this applies to my situation or what to do about it. I have a bit of php experience, but not much.

I tried switching to the twenty eleven theme, but that didn’t work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
