    I just installed WordPress 3.5 and kept the default theme. I rather like it and do not want theme suggestions.

    However, when I hit “Customize” and attempt to change the background color, it doesn’t change. Attempting to use a background image doesn’t work either.

    It adds this to my site:

    <style type="text/css" id="custom-background-css">
    body.custom-background { background-color: #006b11; }
    </style>

    But it has absolutely no effect and nothing changes. My site is here: https://mturkconsultant.com/blog/

    I find it incredibly hard to believe (and annoying ?? ) that this default feature is broken out of the box. What can I do?

    Lord Jon

    Looks like it did change.

    Is green what you wanted?

    Make sure you are clearing any and all caches (browser, site, server) after making changes.

    @kenshino — What browser are you using? It’s white for me in

    * Chrome on Linux
    * Firefox on Linux
    * Default browser on Android 4.0
    * Chrome on Windows 7

    Oh, I understand now. I maximized the window and in this context background did not mean what I thought it meant (oops).

    Does anyone know how to change the background behind the text (no, green isn’t what I wanted, it’s just something obvious so I could see the difference ?? ).

    EDIT: Figured it out, the class I want is .site. My apologies.
