Shelter ID for entrie state?

Hi JarekN,

The plugin is geared to help shelters/rescues list their own pets on their website so there isn’t a way to search by state or area. Since Petfinder does such a good job in providing listings for all shelters by area I do not feel it’s important to build in search by state, etc. functionality.

Does your shelter have a need to display animals from different states?

Our group has a need to display animals from different states. Is there anyway to do that? We have a network of fosters across the eastern US.

You can display animals from different states by either using different Petfinder accounts – use shortcode attribute shelter_id to change to a different Petfinder account, or you can list pets from different states under the same Petfinder account, but change the contact person on the pet (found at the lower left when editing a pet in petfinder). See below for details:

contact – Default is blank. If set to a value, will only list animals with this contact. Contact should be set to first and last name of Contact Person in the Petfinder Contact/Location box for each animal. This can be used to customize the listings of animals on different pages if the other attributes are not enough. Contacts can be added to the Contacts Tab in the Petfinder Admin.
