I would like to create a native WordPress slideshow, but my experience does not match the information on the WordPress gallery support page:

I have a post with 4 images attached to it already. I click on the “Add Media” button and choose “Create Gallery.” At this point I do not see a drop-down menu for gallery “Type:” as described on the support page. When I insert the gallery into the post, I get this shortcode in my post:

    [gallery ids="2364,2363,2362,2361"]

I edit it to include type=”slideshow” but it continues to display as a thumbnail gallery.

I also tried replacing “gallery” with “slideshow” in the shortcode, with and without the ids, but then the shortcode just prints as if it is text.

    This is the page:

  • you are quoting a WordPress.com support page – while this here is WordPress.org

consider to install the ‘jetpack’ plugin and see is that helps (untested).

    Thanks. Installing Jetpack worked.
