    Hi,

I am having trouble installing WordPress via 1and1 hosting. I have done the following so far and I am getting stuck where I am going wrong:

Downloaded and unzipped the WordPress 3.5 file

Created a new mysql database and put tht info into the wp-confi.php file

    Uploaded the files via Filezilla

I’m now a little stuck because it’s not letting me change the destination of my URL to the WordPress folders

The website is https://www.BetFootie.co.uk if that helps. Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Pete

  • Where did you upload WordPress to within that domain?

I uploaded it to just the main domain, not a sub domain or anything if that’s what you mean?

    Thanks,
    Pete

When I try to select the home directory on it, the only option I have is /wp-admin and not the normal /wordpress. Is that a sign that I’ve done something wrong?

    Thanks,
    Pete

It does sounds like something is wrong. It’s a while since I’ve worked on a 1&1 site. You need to check the name of your web root folder with 1&1 (or via their support documentation).

    Hi,

I think I didn’t wait long enough. It seems to be working fine now.

    Thanks anyway,
    Pete

with 1&1 and filezilla there should me a mention of changing the permissions. once you have uploaded the files. also its better to have a subdirectory to load into. since I am running several different wp sites, and now wording on a multisite install.
