Fully Customizable Admin Dashboard?

    Just a quick introduction; Over the past few months I have been building a multi-author content portal. One of the few things I was trying to fully customize was the WordPress Dashboard. Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be any existing plugins that were available (for free, at least). Being a cheapo, I decided to build this myself.

    I can currently perform the following

    1. Re-order metaboxes both as the ‘default’ layout and to set a permanent layout (if required)
    2. Re-format each metabox for highlighting of important areas
    3. Fully customize the Welcome to WordPress metabox

      4. Ofcourse, functionality around conditional displays based on user capabilities can also be built into it.

    This post is simply a expression of interest into whether there is an audience for this plugin. If there is enough interest, I am happy to build a full plugin to perform all of the above (as there is a lack of an existing plugin).

  • Hi.
    There are several existing plugins to customize the Dashboard, such as Dashboard Commander, for instance. If you do a search with key word “Dashboard” you will be able to see what’s available.
    That being said, if can build on or improve the existing ones, that would be sweet, IMHO.
