Database Fine, Theme is Trashed…Now What?

  • My site hasn’t looked or functioned correctly since my provider (1and1) briefly took over my domain name, then returned it to me.

    I get server and 500 errors, can’t log into the dashboard, and the CSS is all messed up.

    1and1 tried to help me edit my database to clear this up, but no luck.

    Now with a complete database (I had backed it up) but a nonfunctioning site, my question is: What now?

    1) Do a manual reinstall of the latest WordPress and hope it solves this?

    2) Follow advice on this forum regarding replacing wpcontent or other WordPress files?

    3) Something else (other than throw away seven years of blog posts)?
