I’ve studied your shortcode reference but it’s confusing me because I need different settings for the parent and child albums and the new code is not used in the reference very much.

So here’s what I’d like. On my main photos page 4 parent albums with titles and descriptions and one picture, the way you have ‘photo of the hour’ displayed here.

When you click on a parent album you get a slide show exactly like ‘WPPA+ mini slideshow’ on the home page – auto scrolling with thumb nails and a title above the main photo with a changing description under each photo. But I don’t want it “mini” sized.

I know where to enter the titles and descriptions in each album. The other thing is I don’t want to change any settings that will affect this page which is now exactly the way I want it to appear.

Thanks for all your great help!
    Charles

Create a parent album, say its name is container and its id = 13. Do NOT upload any photos to the parent.

The shortcode on the Main photos page should be:

    [wppa type=”album” album=”13″ size=”…”][/wppa]

Set the parent of the four albums to container.

Set Table VI-B1 to same as title and leave New tab and PSO unchecked.

Set in Photo Albums -> Edit Album Information: Link type: The album photos as slideshow and Link to: — the same page or post — for all 4 albums.

    Check Table IV-A1: Use Ajax.

Configure the layout of the album covers in: Table IV-D3, Table I-D1,2 and 3

Configure the slideshow elements in Table II-B ( Check the things to be shown, uncheck others )

Thanks! This gave me an excellent “tutorial” even though I modified your instructions a bit to give me a kind of category page.

Just a few quick questions. My photo gallery home page is here and as you can see I have 2 top level albums (Restorations and Events) which are categories. Inside Events are 2 more Parent albums. Since these are parent albums I don’t need the entire page width for a description. If I could put them into two columns that would be great – but I don’t want to change the maximum page width for the Slide Shows in the child albums inside.

And also, I need to order the albums. I’ve given them each an Order Number and set each Photo Order to “Order #” but I can’t find where in settings you are supposed to activate the sort by order.

This is the best gallery I’ve ever seen!

    Thanks

Set Table I-D1 to 400. This works like this: If the column is wider than 400 px, you will get 2 columns of covers. If those columns would be wider than 400 px you will get 3 columns, etc. until the cover is not wider than 400.
This works for any number ( 400 may be 500 etc ) and is a systemwide setting.

I need to order the albums.

Table IV-D1 and D2 if you want the largest first.

I tried “Set Table I-D1 to 400″ but in the source I see something is making wppa-text-frame covertext-frame style=”width:457px; float:right;” I presume the 457 is the problem but I can’t find where it’s coming from.

I want the actual number that is in the Order column where it says “sort order #” I have put in 1 and 2. But in IV-D1 and D2 “Order #” doesn’t work.

OK I got the order to work. But setting Max Cover width to 400 isn’t working. Something is making

    album wppa-box wppa-cover-box wppa-cover-box-1 wppa-alt

width: 622px; I don’t see that width specified anywhere in settings. The only thing I have anywhere near that is Maximum Slide Show width at 600 – but changing that did nothing.
