Google change breaks WordPress Google Form

Thanks to a tip from a Google Forms user a viable work-around is now available. I am still working to solve the problem with the new version of Google Forms and have made some progress but still don’t have a solution.

Right now the work-around I posted above is the only solution I have been able to come up with. I have not had much time to look at the problem either lately, hope to get back to it soon.

I was able to get ‘wget’ to retrieve the form as it follows Goolge’s redirects where WordPress doesn’t. There is a WordPress filter I may be able to use as part of the HTTP API but that is as far as I got before I got really busy at work.

Hi there mike, is the workaround still needed at this point? think google has removed the “create legacy form” from spreadsheets options.

Also I am able to get the new form to show up in latest plugin release, maybe I need to test further to see where it breaks.

I just ran through some tests using the “new” test form I had created a while back when Google first changed how forms work as well as a new one I just created today and both seem to work correctly in my development environment.

This is really good news because I was pretty stumped on how to get past the redirect problem I was having.

Please do some testing and let me know if you see any problems. With the testing I have done this morning, everything seems to be working as it should. I do have a problem with the latest beta version of the plugin not doing the CAPTCHA correctly which I need to resolve.

I have collected 1000+ surveys and no problem reported so far, I think wpgform is working as expected with the new google form. I am using following setup:

so honestly I am not using a lot of built-in features… but the basis seem solid.

Thanks for the update and confirmation on your experience. It matches the testing I have done. This is really good news as the features and options do not have any effect on whether the form worked or not, that was due to a fundamental interaction with Google.

Hiya Mike. I just installed the plugin with a multipage form made with the new gform but I’m only getting responses from the last page of the form. Is this an issue or am I doing something wrong?

I don’t know – I’ll have to take a look. It seems odd though, are all of the questions not required on the previous pages?

As a matter of fact, all of the questions are not required- I just built the form and was going to put in the required after I was testing… it’s a long form and I didn’t want to jump hoops while I tested. The form is here democracylab onboarding survey

It will be a little while before I can look at this, possibly even tomorrow. Any chance you can make one of the questions on the first page required and let me know what happens? My guess is you’ll never get past the first page.

Any chance you can try the beta build I have on my web site and tell me if you still have the problem?

Sure. No rush. I’m out for dinner and google won’t let me build forms on the phone. I’ll try the beta when I get home.

I made the first question required and had the same issue- only the last page of responses showed up. I’ll let you know about the beta.
