Anyone know of a good theme that works

Appearance -> Themes -> Install Themes. Then use any of the options except “Upload”.

last Question, if a theme is powered by CSS and i have no clue how to code, are there easy ways around themes or do you recommend i stay away from those

All themes use CSS. But using a theme that has many built in themes options will give you more flexibility without having to modify CSS directly.

are they easy to use? i really like the first one and want to use something like that but worried i am going to be stuck. I thought i would ask first before downloading. sorry.

I’d suggest looking at the theme specific forums to get a sense of how good the support is and how problematic one might or might not be. You can get to those from the theme page — see the green button on the right side of the page:
