• Hi, two questions:
    a) Why are the BWPS features not default in WordPress?
    b) Does this plugin have any particular effect on BuddyPress?

Also for interest: I had a hacker put his index file on one of my sites a few days ago, that requires FTP access doesn’t it? Gaining access to WP Admin would not allow you to do this. So I’m presuming somehow these Turkish hackers got the FTP details via a compromised email or something? Any thoughts? TY

  • Hi Sonic,

I just found out that WPBS function “Hide Admin” is in conflict with BuddyPress “Register” function. But in my opinion “Hide Admin” is a “must have” function.

Anyone solved this issue? Do I need to use the secret key inside any buddypress function to get this working?

    Thanks to anyone!

Thank you to all developers giving us “non-coders” thus great tools to work with. If I ever make a fortune with it, WordPress Core and Plugin Developers will benefit first.

    Thank you so much!

Why are the BWPS features not default in WordPress?

Better WP Security has many known issues. In some worst cases, it may break your website. Some frequent discussed problems:

    – Change wp-content folder cause problems with other plugins
    – Fail to work on low memory environments
    – High CPU load
    – Being blocked on login page (usually because improper configuration)
    – Unreasonable amount of 404 errors
    – Hide backend not able to 100% hide login page
    – etc.

How hacker drop a file on a website?

Protection is only prevention for them to do it, there is no 100% secure thing. They could gain access by using the vulnerability that may already exist in the plugin/theme you’re using, for example the Timthumb problem which happened recently. I have bad experience using free hosting, they (the webhost) injected some bad codes into my database.

Hackers are smart, we won’t know what new trick they may have to break your website.
