    I’ve built my whole website using the default permalink setting it’s been suggested that I use the post name setting now if I change this will it cause broken links all over the shop so to speak should I just leave it alone

  • It depends.

    If you were using the https://example.com/?p=123 type of permalink, changing to something else won’t break the old links, visitors will just be re-directed to the new url.

    If you were using a different permalink structure, visitors from old links will get a 404 Not Found error. To remedy this, use a plugin to redirect people to the new urls.
