Lightbox putting whole site in the lightbox – help

Hi BidBoxUSA,

I see you are using Colorbox plugin for the lightbox effect and the images are set to link to the attachment page instead of the image.

Try to edit the gallery settings and set it to link to the images.

It was set to that on my end. I re saved it like 10 times and now it works. There are other posts on my site with galleries and they are showing that they are linking to the image but they also aren’t working. I have to save them like 10 time to get them to finally work.

Is there an easier fix for this? What is the problem here?

I am not quite sure what you mean by “re-saved 10 times”…
You mean you had to click the save button 10 times?

Since my WordPress backend is already saying that the images are set to link to the image, I have to re-save the post linking the images to the attachment. Then I have to re-save it again linking it back to the image. Then the gallery works.

Is there an easier fix for this besides re-saving everything? I have lots of posts with galleries and they all say in the backend they are linking to the image but they aren’t working.

***They all used to work, I just recently noticed that they don’t work.

You seem to be hitting a known bug in WordPress 3.5.1 in which all gallery images are being linked to their attachment page rather than the raw image file. This bug should be fixed in the next WordPress update but, for now, the only two options that might work are:

1. if you have been using the Text editor to edit your Posts & Pages then locate the [gallery] shortcode and amend it to [gallery link="file"]

2. editing the relevant Posts/Pages and creating the galleries again but, this time, toggle the “Link To” dropdown from Media File to Attachment page” and back again.

Man, that sucks. Any word on when an update is coming?

Not that I know of. Maybe within the next few weeks but I couldn’t be more precise than that – sorry.
