I just installed wordpress for the first time on my Acer Aspire/M which has windows 8. I did it through ipage. When I click on the admin login link on my work computer the page shows up. But on my laptop it the page pops up as “Server Not Found”. I’ve talk to Ipage help and they can pull up the login page from their computers. I think its an issue with my computer settings but I don’t know how or what to fix. I’ve tried opening it with with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. I’ve deleted cookies and cache. Nothing’s working. I just want to access my WordPress. Please help me!

    Is this your URL?

    https://www.backdoortobroadway.com/wp-login.php

What do you get at that page?

I’m a little bit confused here — you said you installed WP on your computer, but that’s not how WP works unless you are working on a site on your local computer (see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress#Installing_WordPress_on_your_own_Computer ). But a site there is not connected in any way to a site hosted on a server (i.e. your new site on ipage). So there aren’t any settings on your local computer- you just access your site using your browser – is that what you are doing? If the problem only happens on one computer, yes, it’s an issue with your laptop, local network or perhaps your ISP.

But you CAN access it on other computers? If that’s the case, it’s not a WordPress problem. Generally, it would be due to caching, cookies, or something in your network connection. Can you try taking your laptop to another location – to help narrow down the issue? Or perhaps delete and reinstall a browser entirely?

It may be your DNS cache. Can you start a command prompt (in Windows 8? I really need to find out…) and type in this command:

    ipconfig /flushdns

If that’s it then you should be able to reach that server after that.

I think it has to do with my internet provider. It didn’t work on my laptop until I went to Starbucks and used their wireless. Also my roommate tried it on her laptop and our internet provider and it didn’t work. And it is Windows 8.
