When I tried upgrading Jetpack it showed me an update failed error. I did some research on the internet and figured out it might have something to do with permissions. So I chmoded upgrade and jetpack folder to 777 and attempted an auto-upgrade again. This time it showed more progress and stopped again. Now Jetpack is no longer in the plugin list but the when I check via filezilla ftp, the folder still exist. Can someone help me?

By the way, auto-upgrade and installs are now giving me errors. I think it happened this year or it happened when I upgraded WP to its new version. Previously all auto-installs and upgrades were possible. How can I solve this issue once and for all?

    Many thanks.

    Hi!

A quick fix would be manually delete the Jetpack folder and then reupload it using Filezilla. WordPress will then detect it and you can reactivate it.

Let me know how that goes, and then we can look at your other issues.

Hi Richard, that worked. I deleted the jetpack folder and while chmoding wp_content to 777, I also checked one extra box saying ‘recurse into sub-directories’. I think that made the difference. Previously without this box checked, installation did fail. So now Jetpack is back up in full swing. ??
