    I installed Mantra, which is quiet a good theme with loads of settings. I am looking for the setting how to switch off the blogtitle and desription. If I go to the basic settings, this checkbox and the choice of the color for the title is NOT displayed. If I switch to twenty-xx , these settingr are displayd. In the moment I have removed the blogtitle… but that is no good solution.
    I am afraid I am NOT good in css things…

  • Not all themes have the “checkbox” to hide the title and description. So then the only way to do that is to modify the header.php file (should only be done in a child theme) or to hide them using CSS (again only in a child theme or custom CSS option or plugin).

    I was afraid of someone writing this. As stated in the post, I don’t have a clue about PHP editing. Can someone at least tell me which file I am looking for ? And what line I have to look for ?

    This template is certainly not the most beginner friendly template to start with ?? , it took me a while before I could figure it out, but I think the easiest way to resolve the problem is to edit the header.php file and remove this code.

    <div id="branding" role="banner" >

    				<?php cryout_branding_hook();?>
    				<div style="clear:both;"></div>

    			</div><!-- #branding -->

    That should take care of it.

    Go to appearance > Mantra settings > Presentation Page > Hide areas > hide the header area does this help?

    varkeychaya and tlara8354… thanks for your comments. No. both of your hints remove the header completely: the header picture AND the blogtitle. I want to remove the TITLE ONLY, because the name of the blog is imprinted together with a logo in the picture. If I activate Blog title, it doesn’t look right.

    It’s under Graphic Settings in Mantra Settings.

    Scroll down to see Title and Description
    Hide or show your blog’s Title and Description in the header (recommended if you have a custom header image with text).

    and select to HIDE
