After upgrading the plugin, I cannot authorize my Twitter accounts. I already entered all required data including callback url. I had even reset the key and secret codes per suggestion in other threads but I still get an empty page after clicking on ‘authorize accounts’.

I’m using WordPress MU though. I’m not sure if that could be an issue. I didn’t have any with the previous plugin version though and that was installed in the same MU version.

I’m using FF on Windows XP

Getting the same problem too, even after the update.

However, it’s quite possible you’re having problems with https because of out of date CA certificates. Try out the dev version from Github and tell me if it works better for you (it turns off SSL Certificate Verification) – https://github.com/OpenRange/twitter-widget-pro/archive/master.zip

It didn’t work. The only difference this time is that it didn’t go to an empty page. This time after I clicked on “authorize new account” just stayed in the same plugins setting pages within the admin panel.

I reset the keys again just in case but no results.

Someone in another thread had to reset the key on Twitter:

    Can you try that?

I did that too but still nothing happens.

Unfortunately it will still not work at my site.
I delete all Twitter-applications and follow exactly (again) all instructions. Copy/paste the consumer key&secret, fill in the Callback URL, etc.

But I still get this message:
The “request token” for this page is invalid. This may be possible are already used or expired due to too old.
    (translated from Dutch)

I also try it with a different Twitter-account but the same problem…

    Hope somebody can help me.

I have the exact same problem as yeseniagn after upgrading the Twitter Widget Pro a moment ago. Any help is appreciated.

Are you running the development version from here? – https://github.com/OpenRange/twitter-widget-pro/archive/master.zi

I downloaded the dev version from the same link 2 days ago and still have issues. Has this changed? Do I have to download it again?

    Plugin Author Aaron D. Campbell

    (@aaroncampbell)

Yes it changes. There was a change yesterday, two the day before that, and one the day before that (all after the last version was released). It’s basically “the next version as a work-in-progress”

The above link is missing a letter though…my bad. Here’s the right link:

I downloaded the above link, ftp’ed it up, removed the older version and renamed the folder removing -master. It still is not allowing me to authorize new accounts.

Same here. I followed these steps:
    Deactivate the plugin
Upload new files in the plugin folder
    Activate the plugin
    Reset keys on Twitter
Entered new keys on plugin settings
    Click on Authorize accounts

Nothing happens. It stays in the same page and warning/error “You need to authorize your Twitter accounts.” keeps showing.

Should I delete the plugin and install it again instead of just replacing the files? I don’t think it will make any difference, just asking.

I’m tracking this thread because my update did not work either. I’m using a template by Gabfire with PHP Ver. 5.2.17.

I’ve downloaded your file from GitHub and unzipped it. But, I don’t know how to install it. I can’t find directions in the ReadMe file. Can you make a post here when you have it integrated into WordPress? For non-programmers that would help. Thanks!

The development version was just tagged and released and version 2.5.2 of the plugin. Please feel free to update to that version and test.

If you need instructions on how to authorize accounts or set up the application there is a great thread here titled “Instructions for Non-Tech ppl for Twitter Authorization Issue” – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/instructions-for-non-tech-ppl-for-twitter-authorization-issue

I would empty your consumer key and consumer secret fields and update your settings, as well as delete your existing Twitter App, and then start over by following those instructions step by step.

    (@yeseniagn)

I upgraded the plugin, deleted the app, created a new one, emptied the consumer fields in the plugin settings, still nothing!

I think I must just need to find another plugin. I really liked yours but it’s been days with a missing section on our 3 blogs.

Did you see my comment about being on MU version? Will this be an issue with the new plugin version?
