WordPress, Cms And Publishing House, Book Selling

Hi,

I need to start a project for a friend of mine, he have a small publishing house.

The publishing house sell mostly paper books ( some eBooks ), this books are mostly scientific and technical ( physic, mathematics, etc. ) in English or Italian language.

The question is : WordPress is the right platform to perform this model of store or there is a specific book-selling cms platform ? What eCommerce Plugin is better WooCommerce, Shop, WP e-Commerce( or is better a solution on Prestahop, Joomla Virtumart, Magento, etc. )

I love WordPress, it is a great platform, function very well and is very stable but i like to know same testimonial concern the project i’m approaching to do.

Or maybe there is same examples of Book store made using WP ?
