• I wrote to this forum a few days ago about a theme I wrote, and I got some great feedback saying it looked too depressing. So, I decided to start over from square one. Here is the next theme that I wrote, with inspiration from themes that I have seen and liked a lot. I like this one better than my last one (which you can download in my ‘themes’ section). I would love any feedback. Link.

    Thanks,
    jackosh

  • I like that too…. especially the background, and the bright green – ref’ing your heritage?

    Nice…. you seem to have a flair for this. As a btw, I didn’t at all find your previous theme depressing….

    I like it, although I would give a little more space to the left margin on About me. This is in Safari.

    Thanks for all of your nice words! I really love to work with XHTML and CSS, so making themes is something I enjoy doing in my free time.

    I didn’t find the last theme depressing either, but I think it was a little boring. I only used three colors! I also think this one suits me better.

    I found the background after doing a few google image searches. I think its great!

    (BTW I am Irish. YAY for Friday :))

    Thanks a lot for your input, jeremycherfas. I work on a PC, so I can only test in IE and FireFox. I know I have problems in my footer with IE and I’m working on them now.

    Are the margins really messed up on a Mac?

    No, not really messed up. Just hard against the edge.

    Ok, so I changed the theme [in a few minor ways] about a week ago, and I am finally at a point where I love the way it looks.

    However, among the few changes that I made, I added some JavaScript [lightbox picture thing] and a small script that I wrote for the ‘random’ images to appear. Does anyone think the page loads too slowly? I’m on a T1 connection and don’t notice a difference, but I’m interested in slower connection time abnormalities.

    Also, how do you feel about the way the content is displayed? Good or bad?

    Constructive criticism, please!

    I think the frontpage is a bit messy, but maybe it’s just because of the post “Get Some Dancing Shoes” with a picture/text mix.

    The archieves are great. It’s really easy to find things there.

    I love this hoovering effect on pictures…how do you do that? css?

    what7: How does it look now, without the image in a post? I thought it looked very structured, but if people think it’s messy, then ill change it!

    Shamis: Yeah, I used a little CSS. It’s really easy, actually. For that particular div, images have an opacity of 25%, and on img:hover, their opacity changes to 100%.

    Here is what it looks like:

    #flickr img{ opacity:.25;}
    * html #flickr img{ filter:alpha(opacity=25);}

    #flickr img:hover{ border:2px solid #ffffff; opacity:1;}
    * html #flickr a:hover img{ border:2px solid #ffffff; filter:alpha(opacity=100);}

    Great thanks! ..everyday you learn something new ??

    Very clean and contrating theme. I didn’t see it before, but it doesn’t look messy at all to me.
    I really like how you did the archive page, also.

    Shamis: No prob!

    Samboll: Thanks! I prefer my archives to be seperate from the content. I don’t know why, maybe I just enjoy having another section to the site!
