Anybody use WordPress as resume/portfolio site?

Hi all. I just installed WP 2.0.1 through Fantastico on my webhost’s server.

I’m wanting to post my graphic designs on my homepage and was wondering how I can do this with WordPress?

Can someone point me to an easy way to modify the standard theme? Is it just a matter of making a copy of the current theme and just “saving” over the .jpg/.gif files?

If there is a link somewhere online, or a tutorial, please let me know. I’m on a short deadline I’ve set for myself and want the easiest, quickest way to get this site up. (I’m unemployed and looking for a new job :o( )
