    the reason is because the ajax request asking for a list of events is giving a 500 error for some reason.

    it could be another plugin blocking this (e.g. security plugins, seen it happen before), but chances are checking your php error logs willgive you a clue.

    Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Marcus. I had several ‘heavy’ plugins causing problems with each other. Deactivating one by one and testing the effect did the trick ?? I ended up deleting the WP-user online plugin.
