I have seen another problem. I think that’s the same thing than above:
I can’t “log-in” in the front-end, but it is possible on the back-end.

It sounds you have enabled certain feature in the Better WP Security that is not compatible with your website, or other plugin you used, or your webhost environment.

For example these 2 are potential to break your website if something wrong:
    – Rename Content Directory
    – Change Database Prefix

Do you have backup before installing the BWPS? If yes, I personally think it will be much easier to restore from backup. If you don’t have backup, these below information may be help:

    – Have your try your new login URL? More information on here:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/this-plugin-ruined-wp-login-page

    – 404 errors could make yourself being banned from your website. Learn more before about 404 errors, read here (please read my last post):
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-better-wp-security-better-wp-blocking-googlebot

    – If you need, here are the information for remove the plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/entire-wp-admin-directory-unaccessible-incl-css

    Warning:
Thing may get worse if done something wrong. So please be careful and make backup.

I made a backup before installing the plugin.

      it remember me.
    2. i can connect using: https://mysite/
but when i try to log there is no error. It just do nothing

I can work normaly on back-end, but i am not allowed to see preview, like ordinary members.

Have you tried to disable the plugin and then see is it working?

    Thread Starter devin plombier

    (@devin-plombier)

Yes, plugin is deactivated, i undo the change of “.htaccess” and ‘wp=config”. Nothing had changed.
I will unactive all plugins to see.

    Thread Starter devin plombier

    (@devin-plombier)

    no change

    Handoko

    (@handoko-zhang)

You said you can’t “log-in” in the front-end, is there any error message? Or what will happen? How about accessing your website from other computer? Can you post the 404 error message here?

    Thread Starter devin plombier

    (@devin-plombier)

No, there is no 404 error.

    • When i connect on the back-end, there is no problem. I can connect as admin and work.
When i work on a page and click on “preview”, i’m going on the front-end, and WP says “you have not enough right to see this page!”
When i click on the WP-bar to go to the site, i become a “visitor”. I lose my admin status!
    • When i go to the site, there is no problem. But when i click on “login”, i have the login page that appear. I enter my name, my password (all is OK and verified). And…. nothing!
I go to the front-page of the site!
      I’m not logged-in! I’m allways a visitor!
    • This is not a big trouble, but i can’t see previews. I must publish all before i can see anything: I work on my pages, publish, correct them, re-publish, see, correct…. and so on.
It’s not very easy to do. Its slower and need more work.

    Handoko

    (@handoko-zhang)

You said no 404 error, but on your first post you did said there is a 404 error. Okay, forget it.

Can you tell what plugins you are currently using?

So, now you can login to backend as admin. You may try:

    – Create a new user (administrator), try to login and create some new posts. Will it working correctly? If yes, you may use the new admin user and delete the problem admin user (the old one).

    – Try to use WordPress default theme.

    – Do you have any backup? I think it will be lots easier to restore from backup rather than fixing the problem.

    Sorry, for 404!
It’s only when i try to see a draft page.

I deleted “admin” and, using BWPS, made a new user with admin rights.
    I doesn’t work!

I made another user, admin and keymaster, same problem.

I can do all i want: write pages and posts,… i can do all i want on admin page. But when i make a new page (or post), and click “preview” i get an error.
I must publish first and then i can see it like visitors.

I log using “https://mysite/wordpress3/wp-admin/”, no problem.

I click “go to the site” of WP-admin-toolbar, i lose all my rights. If y want to have my admin-rights, i must return to “https://mysite/wordpress3/wp-admin/” another time.

    Handoko

    (@handoko-zhang)

It sounds something wrong in the middle when you deleted the “admin” using BWPS, so it cause damage on the data inside the database.

I suggest you to try User Role Editor plugin. Using this plugin you can manage what can and can’t be accessed by certain role. After installed and activated, goto menu > User > User Role > Select Role: Administrator > make sure all capabilities are enabled > press Update.

    Thread Starter devin plombier

    (@devin-plombier)

    Thank you.
    I’ll try it now.

    Handoko

    (@handoko-zhang)

You may also try reinstall WordPress core. By reinstalling the core, perhaps it can auto repair the damaged data in the database.

    1. Here is the link yourwebsitename.com/wp-admin/update-core.php
    2. Change the yourwebsitename above with your website domain name
    3. Click the “Re-install Now” button.

    (@devin-plombier)

    I tried ??
    User role editor doesn’t work!
    I’ll try to reinstall

    Thread Starter devin plombier

    (@devin-plombier)

    I can’t connect on “…/update-core.php”
    I will reinstall a backup
