Hundred of older posts missing

I went in to work on older posts today, and discovered that hundreds of older posts are missing. I can’t even tell exactly which posts as I have been posting 4-5 days a week for six years. I tried deactivating all plug-ins. No change. I formerly had 73 pages of posts listed in all posts, now I have 35 pages. Please help! Aaaaagh!
