Don't know the lingo – Subdomain address redirecting to nonexistent theme.

Isn’t this your new site: https://propprintables.com/about/

Maybe I’m getting the lingo wrong. A subdomain (as far as I was aware) is the address before the period. For example:

https://www.subdomain.example.com

My subdomain is “aboutme” and my current domain is “propprintables.com”

I’ve registered the subdomain with hostgator etc, and I must sign in separately to access the subdomain which is “aboutme.propprintables.com”

This is what I see when I’m NOT logged in as admin:
https://propprintables.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/solio.png

This is what I see when I AM logged in as admin:
https://propprintables.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/solio2.png

So thanks, but no, that’s not the site I’m trying to access. That’s the normal everyday site, not the subdomain (unless I’m using the term wrong).

You’re right – that’s a sub-domain. Have you asked HostGator about what’s going on with that?

Do you think it’s not a wordpress coding error on my part? Is there any way it could be? I can contact hostgator, but it was working before and then stopped working, so I’m assuming it’s something on my end. I just don’t like chasing myself in circles if I can avoid it.

I really don’t know enough about the server side of things to give you a good answer. Did you change anything besides working on your site (like wp-config or htaccess)?

Could have. I’m a beginner coder. I don’t recall if I did, but it’s possible. I’m sending a support ticket to HostGator now to see if they can assist. Maybe someone else here will know what’s going on. I can’t seem to find anything similar to this problem in any of the forums online. ??

If you go to https://propprintables.com/aboutme/ does that show the theme you are developing?

Some hosting accounts put the subdomain files in a folder within the main website file system and is then visible by using a link like I provided above.

Yes, that is right! That solves half the problem – thanks! Any idea how I might manually redirect people there instead of to the previous link? If they click the header logo, it directs them to the old link which is not correct.

Well, now that we know where the correct files are located, the real question is why is it showing up as 2 different sites?

I think the mistake was made in the hosting control panel.

Typically you wouldn’t have to sign-in to access a subdomain if you have set it up in cPanel under the main domain. It appears as you have setup the subdomain as a separate account AND have it setup under the main domain.

If this is the case, then you need to upload that theme to the separate subdomain account since it is currently residing in the main domain account.
