    As per the title, is there any reason for this? If someone subscribes via the Jetpack Subscription widget on my site, they get the full post in their email (I’m cool with that), but not the video the post is referring to.

    So the post in their inbox reads totally out of context. It’s like I’m an idiot who’s forgotten to insert the actual video I’m talking about, when I haven’t.

    Is there some technical reason for why it doesn’t show up?

    Hi!

    If you use the youtube shortode as detailed here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

    the thumbnail will show up in the email. Example:

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaNH56Vpg-A]

    Of course, it’d be good if it also showed up if you simply inserted a link to the video, without the shortcode. I’ll see about getting that implemented in a future Jetpack release, thanks!

    That’s brilliant, thanks for the reply. I’ll use the shortcode for future posts.
