I’ve tried several times to backup my site (1.5gb in size), but had no luck. I even purchased the premium zip extension, hoping that would help, but no change.
The backup will get to 99% in about an hour or so, then for 35+ hours, it appears to be looping through the last image upload directory. I tried to exclude that directory, but it will just loop on the next-to-last then.
After over 36 hours, the total uploaded files are just 403mb. My dropbox account has 3.5gb free.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Gday mate,

Wow… 1.5gb. That is a very big website. The non zip version will take a very long time to complete if you are relying on the wp-cron. I would consider hooking it up to a real cron job to get it done.

Regarding the zip version. Does it finish zipping? or does it fail on upload?

    Cheers,
    Mikey

I’m not sure it gets to the point of zipping – it seems to keep uploading images. It seemed like it was repeating files, but maybe it was just all of the different resolution images. I likely wasn’t being patient enough…
I’ll give the cron job approach a go.
    Thanks

Have you activated the zip extension?

    I did indeed.

I am having this issue as well. However, I am using the zip extension.
When the extension was finishing successfully my site was around 450-500mb.

The first run through works fine, in that I receive the zipped folder in my dropbox and aside from the odd percentages in the log I can’t tell that there is a problem (Note in the log that it uploaded ~500mb). The problem starts where the plugin doesn’t doesn’t seem to realize it is finished with its backup. It appears after it uploads it starts another job. It keeps doing this until I manually intervene. Today when I caught it I had 6 cron jobs going on my server log all ostensibly from the plugin. Even after I stopped the backup via the button on the log, the processes do not stop unless I manually kill them in cpanel. Its also causing my account to be throttled. I’ve never been throttled until recently, coinciding with the recent update to the plugin along with these issues arising.

Here is my server processes before I killed the cron jobs:
    17837 /ramdisk/php/54/bin/php5 /home5/andrexw1/public_html/blog/wp-cron.php Today at 17:51

    6139 /ramdisk/php/54/bin/php5 /home5/andrexw1/public_html/blog/wp-cron.php Today at 16:46

There is also a slew of php errors to go along. Instead of pasting a massive page of text I just zipped up all the logs as txt files in their entirety if that’s more helpful: errors.zip

I have just implemented a feature to version 1.5 that will resume uploads of large files that should solve your problem.

Please let me know how you go.

    Cheers,
    Mikey
