But now I’m trying to edit the html portion in my FTP manager i looked through the forums and alot of people mentioned to access this through wp-content-themes-(your theme) which my in keres and then the index.html file or php file. When i access my ftp manager under my themes i do not see any of those types of files any help on this would be greatly appreciated since i’m trying to a a meta tag under my head portion of my home page. I also seen stuff on static pages but since i’m trying to stay with my theme this really didn’t pertain to me since i’m trying to add the html portion under my head of my index.html

  • WordPress (like any other dynamic website) doesn’t have static HTML pages in the same way a static site does. The HTML is generated when the page is loaded by the browser. So you generally have to edit .php files – and which one depends on what and where you are changing something. The head section is in the header.php file. BUT you should not be modifying theme files at all – but instead using a Child Theme – that way your changes to the files won’t be overwritten when the theme is updated.
