• Hi!

I′am using wordpress 3.5.1 and I have an issue with changing the size on the comment field (and the surrounding grey area).

    My website: galleriullman.se

As you see the comment field (which I use for customers to be able to send me contact information) is really big and I wonder if I can press it togheter and make it shorter? Also, I wonder if I can remove the grey area surrounding it and change the “name”, “website” prefix in the different comment sections.

    Thanks!

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

    Thanks for the quick answer!

Can I create a child theme and still keep all the information on my website/will my website look the samt?
Note that I’ve already edited alot in the Twenty Eleven theme…

Dumb question and probably asked too late but, why shouldn’t I edit the Twenty Eleven theme?

Can I create a child theme and still keep all the information on my website/will my website look the samt?

Yes but you will have to re-create any custom menus and/or widgets in the new child theme as they are only stored on a per-theme basis.

why shouldn’t I edit the Twenty Eleven theme?

Because when you update the theme (and you are going to keep it up-to-date, aren’t you?), you will lose all of your customisations unless you have used a child theme for them.
