  • Hey @tameerg!

Yeah, we are aware of that, but we like to take just a tiny bit of credit for the free service we are offering. For what it’s worth, we think we designed our image signature quite minimalistic, so that it fits most websites themes, but we are also sad to see you don’t like it.

Also — we’re sincerely sorry to hear that we put it there unannounced, since we thought we made it quite clear in our terms of service description that we’re going to link back: https://www.zemanta.com/rp-tos

Nonetheless, we do appreciate your feedback and we’ll definitely think about how to improve it in the future.

Once again — sorry you don’t like it & thanks for your feedback! And do let me know if we can be of any assistance in the future — we’d love to help you out!

Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo

Hi Silvo, what about creating a checkbox so the user can decide…

Well, after so many years of effort & love that have we put in our product, we find it only natural to put our name on it, just like everybody else does — be that it’s a WordPress plugin or a random phone you buy in a store.

But we also want to make it worth it! We sincerely think and strive to be the best out there, for what we do.

We appreciate your feedback, but we would also like to ask you for your understanding.

As always — if you have any other questions regarding our service, please do not hesitate to let me know! I’ll gladly help!

    Best,
    Silvo

This is in breach of terms under which the plugins are hosted on www.ads-software.com:

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/about/

4.The plugin must not embed external links on the public site (like a “powered by” link) without explicitly asking the user’s permission

This plugin not only violates the terms, but blatantly advocates the violation and should be banned.

Tranny, please send a report to [email protected] detailing the suspected violation of terms.

    Hello cubecolour,

as per your instructions, I sent an email detailing the suspected violation of terms. What is alarming about this violation is that the backlink is forced to the live page even when specifically turned off and that the developers, as can be seen from the posts here, are trying to justify this course of action. This goes way against the principals on which WordPress was built.

THIS would be why I will not use plugins that don’t offer the option to turn of said annoying advertising. WordPress rules or not. If you MUST, put the annoying ads in the admin backend where only the site owner has to suffer through them.

Though that, I understand, is also against the rules? Even so, I see plenty of it recently.

Really good (and useful to me) plugins, I will gladly pay for. Or even pay for a copyright-like link to be removed. If the plugin is really good, but has these annoying ads or obligatory copyright BS, I will just go find someone to make one for me just like it. Less the annoying ads (or whatever bloated crap they stuffed in).

Finally, I avoid Zemanta like the plague. It is one of the most insidious advertising platforms I can think of. Worse, I found it slows your site down (been a while since I tried it). So take note of that! These 3rd party ad type plugins spend time loading and loading, thus slowing your site down. Which defeats the purpose. People will just leave and never see the Zemanta ads anyway.

Oh, and by the way, if it was “that easy” to make money off ads on your site, we’d all be rich. Oops! That’s not so common is it? Seems to me that some real effort and work is involved to do that. A silly little ad plugin (alone) just won’t make it happen lol.

…in the latest update (Vs. 2.6.1.) the “advertising code” is in wp_related_posts.php in line 489 to 494…

    Hi all,
it’s true that we have been in violation of terms with WordPress. The plugin was removed on Saturday, we fixed it so it no longer violates the terms. It is now back.

Just to clear up, our plugin is very optimized for speed. It really should not slow your site down.

We apologize to the community for violating the terms and we’ll work harder to be in line with the rules.

    Thanks!
    Rok
