I’m afraid I have to agree with the last anonymous post to Spacemonkeys’ topic – WordPress simply doesn’t work with Win/Apache/Mysql. I get exactly the same error and I seem to have exactly the same setup as the person who posted the reply. Any chance of a fix from someone somewhere? I really would like to try out WP!

    Here is what I have:
    Webserver with
    mySQL with phpmyadmin access,
    and
    SERVER_SOFTWARE Apache/1.3.28 (Unix)
I got errors on install, but wordpress up and running great. I like it, and have tried about 4 or 5 others.

Thanks for your reply, here is the post I made earlier – can you help?
I have manually created config.php and all the entries are correct but I get this error message
[Table ‘wordpress.wp_options’ doesn’t exist] when I run install.php in the browser.
I’m trying to set it up on my machine at home – I’m running Apache with phpmyadmin installed and editing on Dreamweaver.

I’ve just found Laughing Lizard’s sql dump file – absolutely essential! Thanks guys, I’m up and running and it only took 2 days. Seriously ‘though, I’m really looking forward to trying this out. Thanks again.

I would not want any one to be put off setting up WP locally before going live. I use Easyphp
which has apache/mysql/phpadmin/php all in one bundle. The guys are French but they provide docs in a multitude of tongues. Installed like a dream. WP went in with no problems.

Same here EasyPHP, showed some errors but it’s working perfectly

no problems running Win Xp and xampp. It’s great to be able to learn, experiment and test on your own machine.
