    I’m getting these errors when i get to the second part of the installation process:

    WordPress database error: [insert command denied to user: ‘growlydidge@localhost’ for table… there is a long list of table names that it corresponds to

    and

    WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ ‘wp_user_level’, ’10’)’ at line 1]

    and

    WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘ ‘wp_capabilities’, ‘a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;b:1;}’)’ at line]

    can anyone tell me if this would be on my host’s end or on the WordPress end. any advice would be really appreciated. i even tried installing a different plaform (textpattern) and got similar errors, which leads me to think it’s a server problem. but i really have no idea.

  • It’s a database permissions problem.
    When you added yourself as a user to the database there should have been something that indicated what permissions that user had on that database.
    In what you have above, you do not have ‘All’ permissions.

    Deleteing the User (NOT the database!) then re-adding the user and getting the perms right should do the trick. If you do delete and recreate the user, keep the passwords the same.

    Thanks podz. I’m now waiting to see if my webhost can make these changes.

    Apparently WordPress is creating the tables even though it doesn’t enable me to enter in the correct data. I try to login using the admin name and password it generates but this leads me to a screen saying that WordPress hasn’t been installed.

    I’m still looking into the user thing.

    You were right on Podz. My host changed the permissions and everything is working fine now.
